Just picked up this TOOLIOM 200M welder and finally had a chance to give it a try on a project. I’m a total beginner welder, so I went with the flux core option (no gas needed) and .035 inch wire. Tackled some 1/4 inch steel plate, and overall, I’m pretty impressed!
The welds looked decent enough that I didn’t even need to grind them down afterwards – which is a win for a newbie like me. There was a fair amount of splatter, but I’m pretty sure that’s because I probably messed up some settings. Hey, that’s part of the learning process, right?
One thing to watch out for if you’re new to this welder: the feed wheel needs to be flipped to work with .035 wire. I totally missed that at first, but once I got it switched over, the wire fed smoothly. No problems at all for a portable, budget-friendly welder like this one. Plus, it’s light enough to toss in a backpack! At least, it is once you take out the gun and the wire spool – I’d guess the whole thing weighs around 25 pounds. Read more…
