This HEIZO mini stick welder is a neat little machine! It’s 110v and super portable, which is exactly what I was looking for. Word of warning though, this thing has a 48% duty cycle, which basically means it can only weld for 48% of the time before it needs a break to cool down. It took me a whole welding rod to get the hang of planning my welds around that, but once I did, it worked like a charm.

Now, I like all my tools to match, so I decided to take this little guy apart and give it a fresh coat of black paint. While I was in there, I noticed a loose wire at the rocker switch. The welder still worked because the connection wasn’t completely broken, but I figured I might as well fix it while I had it open. Sneaky Chinese, right? But hey, for the price, this HEIZO welder is a fantastic little value. It welds great and is super portable, and aside from that little loose wire, seems well-built.
